RESEARCH FOCUS

Brain Networks

Advanced mathematical tools are used to model the formed brain networks so in normal as in pathological cases

Affective Computing

Automatic emotion recognition using biosignals, and it's application in the wider context of HCI and e-Learning

Math Anxiety

Investigating the impact of mathematical anxiety so in working memory as in mental calculation.

Personality Computing

Automatic personality recognition using features extracted by EEG signals, and it's application in the wider context of HCI and e-Learning

Epilepsy

Working towards the automatic localisation of the Seizure Onset Zone using non-invasive brain imaging modalities.

Neurofeedback

Developing and assessing novel neurofeedback protocols, as well as developing home-based neurofeedback using cheap commercial devices

Emotions

Study of emotions so from a neuroscientific perspective as how their understanding can be applied for clinical purposes.

BCI

Developing novel BCI application, as well as improving the accuracy and time of the existing ones.

ADVANCED EQUIPMENT
(ASTON BRAIN CENTRE)
WIRELESS AND WEARABLE SETS
  • g.tec Unicorn

Unicorn Hybrid Black, is a wireless and wearable EEG headset with 8 dry electrodes.

  • OpenBCI

OpenBCI stands for open-source brain-computer interface (BCI) with 16 dry electrodes.

  • Neurosky Mobile

The neurosky measures and outputs the EEG power spectrums, eSense meters and eye blinks.

  • EMOTIV Insight

Designed for everyday use, Insight  produce clean, robust signals anytime, anywhere.

  • EMOTIV epoc+

It is designed for contextual human brain research and provides access to professional grade brain data
